Crafting a UX community of practice
Our vision was to create a collaborative and inclusive community of UX designers at the Barclays campus in Glasgow. This community aimed to share knowledge, skills, and experiences to drive innovation and excellence in our design practice.
Impact
- Creating an inclusive community: Promoted excellence in our design practice to the public, making a positive impact on user experience.
- Promoting a learning culture: Built an environment for continuous learning by establishing a community that shares and promotes UX best practices.
- Empowering others: Encouraged colleagues to take ownership by contributing as speakers and facilitators.
My role
I collaborated with five UX designers on campus to establish a strong community where we could share expertise, and collectively create innovative, user-centered design solutions.
My contributions:
- Co-organized and facilitated various UX talks and workshops for Barclays colleagues, including:
- An introduction to UX principles.
- A session on digital accessibility.
- A design thinking workshop.
- Co-organised a public event in Glasgow to talk about how we facilitated a company-wide adoption of UX principles. The response was hugely positive – our audience actively engaged with questions and ideas.
- Supported interns on their journey to begin or switch to a UX career withing the bank.
